Maria Lyon joined Rare Violins of New York in 2020. With a background in the Arts, she has extensive experience from working in Fine Art galleries in Europe as well as New York. Originally from Sweden, she studied violin for many years as a child and young adult. Raised in a family of musicians, she was always surrounded by classical music. Lyon holds a BA in Art History from Uppsala University and a MSc in Historic Preservation from the University of Gothenburg. As part of her education she studied Spanish Art and Culture at Universidad de Córdoba, Spain and Historic Preservation at Rijksuniversitet Groningen, The Netherlands. She also lived and worked in Kosovo with a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and preserving cultural heritage. At Rare Violins of New York, Lyon connects her experiences from the art world with her love of music, contributing to a business dedicated to the finest craft and service in its field.
